SaltConf18 At a Glance

SaltConf18 is a gathering designed to help systems administrators, cloud architects, enterprise IT operators, site reliability engineers, IT directors, and IT managers more effectively manage and secure data center infrastructure using SaltStack event-driven automation.

SaltConf18 will include four full days of pure SaltStack goodness, now including two days of pre-conference training on Monday, Sept. 10, and Tuesday, Sept. 11. The main conference runs Sept. 12–13 and includes keynotes, breakout sessions, and valuable training from SaltStack customers and users, core engineers, and partners.

CFP Description

This is your opportunity to speak at SaltConf18 (www.saltconf.com), the fifth annual SaltStack user conference. Selected talks will be scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday, September 12-13 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Deadline for speaker submissions is Friday, May 11.

We are looking for the best Salt Open use cases and SaltStack Enterprise case studies. Specific topics we'd like to see addressed are listed below. You can see talks from previous conferences on our YouTube channel here.

Your submission doesn't have to be perfect, if selected we'll refine it with you. That said, we can't and won't be able to accept all talk proposals so make sure to submit your proposals quickly and on time. We will also give preferential treatment to proposals promoted via social media using the hashtag #SaltConf18.

If a talk is accepted, speakers receive a complimentary SaltConf18 main conference pass. Travel and lodging expenses are not covered by SaltStack.

Talk content should be about 30 minutes but you will have 50 minutes total to accommodate introductions, demos, audience Q&A, etc. We are looking for case studies and use cases on the following topics:

  • Intelligent, event-driven automation
  • Security vulnerability remediation and policy audit and compliance
  • Software-defined data center systems including networks and storage
  • Complex, large-scale deployments or implementations
  • Multi-cloud orchestration, configuration and control
  • What SaltStack configuration management means to you
  • How you use SaltStack for more than just configuration management
  • DevOps orchestration and task automation
  • SaltStack performance, efficiency and / or ROI benchmarks
  • Unique SaltStack use cases (e.g. Internet of things (IoT); Serverless; etc.)

  • Feel free to ask questions or contact us at saltconf@saltstack.com. Also, if your submission is accepted we assume we have your permission to promote your talk as part of the SaltConf18 program. We do plan to record video of all SaltConf18 talks and make the recordings available on the SaltStack YouTube channel and web properties. If this is a problem, please let us know.

All speakers must adhere to the SaltConf18 code of conduct.
