Daniel Krook

Bio

Daniel Krook is a New York area Software Engineer and Developer Advocate at IBM. He works with customers and the community to create first-of-a-kind solutions based on open source cloud technology, most recently building serverless applications with IBM Cloud Functions (powered by Apache OpenWhisk).

He has been active in the CNCF Serverless Working group as a primary author of a whitepaper that seeks to clearly explain the potential of this new compute model and drive its adoption in new cloud-native applications.

Daniel has engineered software end-to-end for a wide array of industries and earned certifications in cloud architecture, application development, and system operations along the way. He has been recognized as an IBM and Open Group Distinguished IT Specialist, Senior Technical Staff Member, Master Inventor, and Member of the IBM Academy of Technology.

He’s filed dozens of patent applications, spoken at many open source cloud conferences, and often written for IBM blogs, developerWorks, and Redbooks. He’s organized New York Cloud Foundry, OpenStack, OpenWhisk, and PHP meetups for a number of years.

Mr. Krook graduated from Trinity College (Hartford, CT) with a double major in Political Science and International Studies. He studied abroad in Cuba and South Africa, holds dual USA-Finland/EU citizenship, and has collaborated with professional colleagues throughout the world.
