About

The education sector using Python has grown considerably, especially with freelance developers transitioning their work to focus on language training. As Python grows as a language, both in popularity and complexity, so to must training for existing users. While this area does fall under the area of education, one-off short form training as professional development has unique needs, questions, and expertise. Being related to education, but not always identifying as educators within their professional role, many trainers are isolated from the broader community of expertise on teaching and learning. This means that they are missing out on key discoveries and practices, and the educator community is missing out on the expertise of teaching adult professional learners.

Goals

  • Inspire and educate newcomers about careers and pathways for becoming a trainer
  • Share and document best practices for operating as a trainer, including freelance and other contract models
  • Establish a network of mentors for new trainers
  • Learn about accessibility and codes of conduct within professional development spaces
  • Share pro-tips for web-based instruction, content strategy, copyright, etc.
