Berlin Buzzwords is Germany’s most exciting conference on storing, processing, streaming and searching large amounts of digital data. It focuses on open source software projects. The 10th edition of Berlin Buzzwords will be held on June 7-9, 2020 at Kulturbrauerei.
All tickets are valid for the full three days and include free WiFi as well as food, snacks, and drinks throughout the two conference days on Monday and Tuesday. You can also join the barcamp and meetups & hackathons taking place all over Berlin hosted by Berlin Buzzwords and local companies.
Berlin Buzzwords is a conference focused on open source software projects in the field of big data analysis, scalability, storage and searchability. It provides a platform for developers, engineers, IT architects, analysts and data scientists who are interested in information retrieval, the searchability of large amounts of data, NoSQL and big data processing. Previous Berlin Buzzwords’ presentations focused on Apache Spark, Flink, Kylin, Cassandra, Lucene, HBase, Kafka, Solr, Hadoop, Samza, Mahout, Elasticsearch, MongoDB and many more.
The conference was founded by Isabel Drost-Fromm (Member of the Apache Software Foundation, PMC member Apache community development and co-founder of Apache Mahout), Jan Lehnardt (PMC member Apache CouchDB) and Simon Willnauer (PMC member Apache Lucene).
In 2019, more than 600 attendees visited Kulturbrauerei to join the 10th edition of Berlin Buzzwords. Over 70 international speakers offered more than 40 hours of program in 60+ sessions on 4 stages.

What we offer
Being a speaker at Berlin Buzzwords is a great opportunity to share your knowledge and experiences with fellow attendees. It is a great way to develop your ideas and get feedback from an engaged audience. Speaking at Berlin Buzzwords helps you gain experience on stage which you can reference as we record each session on video and publish them on YouTube.
An invitation to speak at Berlin Buzzwords includes a full conference pass with access to conference and barcamp. We also offer free accommodation for 2 nights at a nearby hotel to speakers from outside of Berlin.
Berlin Buzzwords is looking for talks on:
Search / IR systems – Lucene, Solr, Elasticsearch or comparable solutions
NoSQL – like Apache Cassandra, Flink, MongoDB, Hbase, CouchDB and others
Large Data Processing – Hadoop itself, MapReduce, Cascading etc.

There will be an anonymized review of all submissions. Members of the program committee will not be able to view your name or any other personal information given in your speaker profile so as to avoid unconscious bias.
If you are taking part in our Call for Submissions for the first time, please register here in order to submit a session proposal. Please us a new session form for each abstract you would like to submit.
The Call for Submissions will be open until Feb 16th 2020 23:55 CET
Already registered for a previous #bbuzz?
You just need to update your account. Log in with your username and password, don’t worry if you’ve forgotten it you can reset it. On the main page click on “Berlin Buzzwords 2020: subscribe to event” and you will be asked if you want to join the group Berlin Buzzwords 2020. Click join and you will return to the main page. Now click on Dashboard and go to “Add Session” in order to submit your new abstract. Don’t worry - it’s much easier than it sounds. Any more questions?
