Ruby Conference Kenya (RubyConfKe) is an annual conference dedicated to Ruby programming language. It is organized by Nairuby.org, a community-driven group of developers who wish to promote the use of Ruby, the formation of an inclusive and supportive Ruby community, Involvement of startups and corporates, and the education of Ruby developers.

Ruby Conference Kenya 2017 will take place at Riara University, Nairobi, Kenya on June 21st through June 23rd, 2017. We will be accepting talk proposals from October 28th, 2017, through April 1st, 2018. Due to the competitive nature of the selection process, we encourage you to submit your proposal as early as possible. RubyConfKe 2018 is a double-track conference with two days of talks and workshops. This means that the number of proposals we can accept is limited to the number of talks and workshops we can comfortably fit in two days. Don’t be disappointed if your proposal isn’t accepted!

CFP Description

2018 THEME: AGILE, OPEN SOURCE, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP All speakers are required to adhere to RubyConfKe code of conduct. We will reject any proposals that do not appear to be in good taste. We encourage you to submit proposals that cover a wide variety of skill levels and a wide variety of topics. Our selection committee will attempt to create a program that is enjoyable for everyone by choosing talks that are aimed at Entrepreneurs, Opensource maintainers, Open source contributors, beginners, seasoned Ruby developers, and people who know how to bootstrap Ruby 2.2.3 and Ruby Frameworks.

Mentoring and review assistance Ruby Conference Kenya 2018 lasts for two days, double track format, targeting 300 people each. Speaking to an audience of this size can be daunting. To assist speakers, we will be providing experienced mentors from our community to help mentor and review presentations.

Duration:

Proposals should be for a presentation of a maximum of 45 minutes. Speakers should budget 5-10 minutes at the end of their 45 minutes for questions from the floor. The time limit of 45 minutes will be enforced by the moderator.

Diversity: We strongly encourage diversity at our events. We will be actively soliciting proposals from a variety of potential speakers. Not all speaking slots at the conference will be filled by this CFP. Ruby Conference Kenya reserves the right to invite speakers who have not submitted proposals in order to create a conference that is more enjoyable, more informative, and more inclusive.
