CFP Description

CONNECT 2018

by Women Who Code

You’re invited to submit a talk for CONNECT, WWCode’s premier annual developer conference. The event takes place in downtown San Francisco at Twitter HQ on April 28, 2018. We are expecting about 600 participants for this awesome event.

Important Dates

Deadline for submission: 11:59p PST Feb 22, 2018

Notification: We alert speakers on a rolling basis and no later than March 15, 2018.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic speakers working in technology who want to share their expertise. We aim to have speakers that represent the talent and rich diversity of our community.

Talks range from sharing your work-process and ProTips to demonstrating new technologies. The goal of your talk is to share your knowledge about technical and soft skill experiences with technical leaders, software developers, product managers, designers and other technologists. If you use a specific language, your talk must be understandable by good developers, even if they don’t know the exact language syntax (short snippets or pseudo-code are totally fine). Attendees will be able to take away simple changes that can improve their day-to-day jobs.

Don’t be afraid to bring up advanced stuff and even try your hand at live demo-ing. Submissions by professional and first-time speakers are welcome. If you have an awesome idea, do not hesitate to submit it! We will be happy to give you the necessary feedback to make sure it matches audience expectations.

You must be 18+

Talk Formats

Keynotes and panels: 30 and 60 minute blocks, including the optional Q&A Talks: 30 and 45 minute blocks Lightning Talks: 5 and 10 minute blocks Hands-on Workshops and CodeLabs: 45 minute and longer blocks available in the WWCode Zone (less quiet space where hands-on study group style demos are better than long presentations)

Executive Experience: Focus on leadership, management, career development, executive experience (how did you get to where you are).

Diversity and Inclusion

We promote diversity in tech by creating a safe and empowering space for everyone to showcase their technical talent. We intentionally remove unconscious bias in speaker selection. We believe in your technical ability and want to hear your unique ideas.

As a speaker, you’ll receive eternal gratitude and recognition in our community, along with two free tickets for you and a guest to attend all conference events. This includes: all talks, swag, food, and parties (while supplies last). Register early - events sell out!
