Gender Equity in Tech: it’s not a request

GETConf (Gender Equity in Tech Conference) is a one-day tech conference by women, for everyone. Our mission is to amplify and celebrate the voices of women and non-men, and educate and connect people of all genders in the tech community.

GETConf is a day for anyone in tech to learn from both technical and non-technical thought leaders. We aim to strengthen and build the greater tech community.

Is GETConf for you? GETConf is designed for technical and tech-adjacent attendees to learn together, side-by-side. There are no tracks, as the event believes there is value in a shared experience. Organizers will work with all speakers to develop tools that allow attendees of all abilities to learn and grow together.

CFP Description

Organizers are looking for exclusively women and non-men speakers. If you fit that bill and are passionate about your work and how it relates to the greater tech community, you’re in the right place.

Do you love a language, library, or framework and want to share why?

Submit a talk about it.

Do you have lessons to share about big data, database administration, networking, DevOps, or cybersecurity?

Submit a talk about it.

Do you have stories to tell about product development, project management, or design and UI/UX?

Submit a talk about it.

Are you the only ___ in the room? Are you an entrepreneur? Have you had an experience in tech others could learn from?

We think you’re getting the picture. Submit a talk about it!

If you have something for which you are passionate and it relates to tech in any way, then we want to hear from you!

Actions and Characteristics that will qualify you for speaking (pending an accepted talk)

  1. You identify as a woman or non-man. Trans women are women and, as such, are included in the selection process.
  2. You agree to sign the conference Code of Conduct and abide by it through the end of the event.
  3. You are willing to work with the GETConf Programming Committee to complete an approved draft of supporting materials for your talk, due by March 1, 2019. (We recognize this is a large ask, but because this is a one-track conference with an audience who may have a range of technical knowledge, these materials will be used to create a printed deliverable for all attendees with key vocabulary, take-aways, and resources so everyone can follow along)

Actions and Characteristics that will disqualify you from speaking

  1. You identify as a man. While we value our male allies, GETConf is a space to raise up the voices of women and non-men. Trans men are men and, as such, are excluded from the selection process.
  2. You are not willing to sign the conference Code of Conduct or fail to abide by it through the end of the event.
  3. You are not willing to work with the GETConf Programming Committee to complete an approved draft of supporting materials for your talk, due by March 1, 2019.
