JavaScript Bangkok 1.0.0 is an independently organized, single-day, single-track conference where both local and international JavaScript communities unite, to interact and learn from each other everything about JavaScript.

The event will take place on Saturday February 8th, 2020 at KBank Siam Pic-Ganesha Theater, located at Siam Square One, situated right at the heart of Bangkok, connected to the Siam BTS central station.

We expect 1,000 attendees in this conference, with people from multiple local JavaScript communities as well as global international audience.

Our organizing team is a collaboration between multiple local community leaders (such as React, Vue, Angular, Node.js, Web Components) joining forces together. We’ve been running various independent local conferences and meetups for the past 3 years. Our biggest local conference so far was React Bangkok 3.0.0, a 500-people conference about React. Now we’re on a mission to take it to the next level and include everything related to JavaScript!

CFP Description

We’re looking for both experienced speakers and freshies to share your experience with us! Majority of our talks will be selected through CFP, while we have sessions reserved for the keynote speakers.

You don’t have to be an expert to give a talk — we’re here to help! If you have an interesting story to share, we’d love to hear from you. Need help in preparing your talk? We can help mentor you!

We aim to be inclusive and we welcome proposals from everyone. We will evaluate the proposal contents based on its own merit, regardless of speaker’s ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, etc. Your submissions will be anonymous and we will not see your “Profile Details” to give everyone an equal chance. For this reason, please do not put any identifying information in any fields under the “Talk Details” section, as this would subvert the whole process.

Talks should be about 25 minutes long and can be in either English or Thai. However, we request all your slides to be in English. Your talk will be recorded and published on YouTube.

Feel free to submit as many talks as you want!

Speaker’s benefits

  • A free ticket to enter the conference. If you already have one, we’ll issue a refund.
  • A chance to share your story with a thousand of developers.
  • In case your company covers your travel expenses, we’ll list them as “speaker sponsor” on our website.
  • The opportunity to be paired with a speaker mentor to help you prepare your talk (content, slides, dry runs, whatever you need). This isn’t mandatory, but recommended for new speakers.

New to submitting CFPs?

If this is your first time submitting CFPs, we recommend the following resources that will teach you how to craft your proposal as well as how to prepare your talk contents, slides, and delivery.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for any interesting stories or lessons about your experience in using JavaScript and related technology, no matter what framework or library you use. Related languages and technologies like TypeScript, ClojureScript, WebAssembly, Elm are also welcome.

We’re interested in seeing software engineering concepts and principles applied to JavaScript as well. We also look forward to contents about the human side of software (physical & mental health, cultures and processes, community building, etc.).

We want to hear inspiring story that only you can tell. Stories like what you learned, how you solved a problem in an interesting way, how you learned to grok a difficult concept, how you became more effective at developing software, ideas that resonated with you so much that you want to let the world know about, or simply just how you used JavaScript to do something really cool.

We generally avoid vendor pitches or talks requiring knowledge of proprietary products, as well as intro/how-to talks or talks that recites available documentation.
