Salt Lake City DevOps Days May 2019

“Mastering large-scale software delivery will define the economic landscape of the 21st century, just as the mastery of mass production defined the landscape in the 20th. Unfortunately, business and technology leaders are woefully ill-equipped for the Age of Software because they are using management paradigms from past technological revolutions. While technologists adopting DevOps and Agile have already made the transition, the gap between modern technical practices and the business has only widened in the process. We need a new approach in order for the majority of the world’s organizations to thrive in this new age.” https://medium.com/@Tasktop/announcing-project-to-product-and-the-flow-framework-2e239052a86e

Get the ‘Business’ ready, time to evolve from DevOps to BizOps

Northern Utah is proud to host the fourth annual Salt Lake City DevOps Days. This event has led the conversation in the state as far as DevOps organizational practices and tooling. In 2019 we are focusing on the evolution of DevOps in to, and including now the Business.

LOOKING FOR: TALKS (30 MIN) - LIGHTENING TALK (IGNITE) - WORKSHOPS (2 HOURS) - HANDS ON LAB (2 OR 4 HOURS)- SIMULATIONS (2 OR 4 HOURS)

What is BizOps? It is a concept to cash-Business thru to the customer manner of operating. A true “shift left” if you like! We want to ask-is there a way to Intentionally Evolve by connecting conversations, artifacts and tools which remain persistent to seamlessly communicate as an idea move from idea to deployment? Could full business collaboration no longer be a dream. It is happening. Are you participating in this evolution? Come tell us how. Tried and failed? We want to know that too (no need to relearn the lessons you have already).

CFP Description

Things we are curious about which we would like covered:

  • Is there a way to profile a company culture in order to understand “can they shift left”

  • Are there optimal conditions in which a company could evolve? Are there antipatterns?

  • How far left have you moved: conversations, tools, efforts? How did you get there?

  • What huge failures have you encountered trying to evolve your processes? What are the major roadblocks in your company?

  • Which part of your business is involved in the End-to-End delivery cycle? What do they do?

  • Are ALL of your tools (from strategy thru to delivery) connected? Have you connected any which are outside of development?

  • Do you know how long it takes for your products to move from concept to cash?

  • If you WERE going to create BizOps, how would you do it?

  • Have you created a Dojo? Could you teach us?
