Creating successful tech communities

By Javier Daza Comas

Elevator Pitch

Unlike how Hollywood portrait us, programmers do not live in a basement, dark and lonely. In fact, many of us like to participate in communities where we share, learn and have fun. This talk is aimed at those people who seek to create a community in their city.

Description

I will open myself to the audience and talk about a personal issue that helped me strengthen myself and find a way to start a Python community. During my talk you will see how personal and common goals emerge and fusion together to start one of the first strong and consolidated tech communities in my city, becoming the reference to others around.

From my experience, I would like to give you tips about how to create tech communities, which strategies and techniques worked the most and how I overcame some obstacles.

At last but not least, I will give some of the benefits of creating tech communities and share some resources to the audience.

I already did this talk at PyCon Colombia 2019 (https://2019.pycon.co/en/speakers/javier-daza-comas/) using spanish and would like to share my experience with english speakers.
