Elevator Pitch

The blockchain is not the same as bitcoin so what is it? We will explain how the blockchain works and why it is an awesome tool in cloud forensics. We will also show some great examples on how the blockchain can run into problems with GDPR and why.

Description

The blockchain is really not a new technology but rather existing technologies applied in a new way. The blockchain is not the same as bitcoin or any crypto currency. This talk will illustrate how the blockchain works with Merkel trees and hashing. We will describe the difference between private and public blockchains and the role of majority commitments and distributed chains. We will highlight examples with cases and applications of the blockchain where it might run into trouble with the GDPR. To end with we will take you through the latest research in cloud forensics and cloud identity and show how blockchain can be a perfect tool for forensic evidence gathering.

Notes

This is a topic that will try to explain tech to non technical people so that all should be able to understand how a blockchain works.
