Bio

Evan Stone is an entertainment lawyer based in Denton, Texas. Stone studied music video history, film editing, and 3D modeling at California State University, Los Angeles and at the University of North Texas, ultimately earning his BA from the latter. Stone then went on to study Intellectual Property Law and Entertainment Law at Texas A&M School of Law (then known as Texas Wesleyan School of Law). Throughout his studies and his career Stone has “moonlighted” as a freelance database application developer and software engineer.

In 2008, Stone joined the legal team at FUNimation Entertainment, the largest producer and distributor of anime in the United States and now owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Stone still serves as part-time Legal Counsel there, focusing on issues of copyright and trademark infringement and managing a team dedicated to that same focus. This team uses a large suite of custom software created by Stone for the express purpose of making the team’s jobs easier. Stone is also the founding partner of Stone & Vaughan, PLLC in Denton, Texas, where he handles a wide variety of legal issues related to the entertainment industry, as well as Criminal Defense, Landlord/Tenant Law and Family Law.
