Bio

Originally trained as a geologist, my first startup was in 2001 with three friends in an Australian basement. I moved to San Diego, CA and worked on real-time streaming telemetry of passive-source earthquake sensors for the next 10 years (early IoT!). My first Python scripts were built to replace ancient backend PHP scripts and I discovered Django in 2009. In 2012 I moved to Seattle to rebuild the front-end of a Big Data archive of seismic data at UW purely in Python & Django. A few years later I moved into technology consulting and I have focused almost exclusively on data engineering and data science for the last two: building ETL pipelines and ML models using Jupyter notebooks, Pandas, Matplotlib, Scipy and scikit-learn. My current team has been delivering ML-powered solutions in the Seattle region for almost 2 years.
