Elevator Pitch

Most senior executives in large enterprises believe DevOps and CI/CD are interchangeable. If I have a CI/CD pipeline, I am “doing DevOps”, right? Not exactly. The dilemma that these executives have is that they don’t believe DevOps can be with the people they have. It can be done. I’ll show you how!

Description

Most senior executives in large enterprises believe DevOps and CI/CD are interchangeable. If I have a CI/CD pipeline, I am “doing DevOps”, right? Not exactly. DevOps has several components to it: a technical component around integration, validation, deployment and monitoring as well as a cultural component around people and organizational structure. The dilemma that these executives have is that they don’t believe DevOps can be done with the people they have. Getting the DevOps mindset requires dedicated time from Developers and Operations Engineers – time that they may not have. Most executives ultimately resort to getting help from external consultants and outsourced partners. My session will focus on ways to “do DevOps organically”. DevOps can evolve from within, if executives are willing to trust and respect their engineers. I will walk through the “ART3 of DevOps” – Assessment, Roadmap, and “Tools, Training and Talent”. Assessments are based on capabilities enabled within each team in the organization. Roadmaps shows direction and cadence. There are many DevOps tools in the marketplace today. I will breakdown how to choose tools and the ability to train people on those tools to achieve a business objective.

Notes

I will have video embedded into the presentation. Over 23 years of experience in Build/Release Engineering and DevOps in Large Enterprises.
