Bio
Nitin Kunal is Director of Software Development at Oracle Switzerland, where he leads the development effort of MySQL HeatWave engine. He joined the HeatWave team in 2012 as one of the early members of Oracle Labs Switzerland and has been contributing to the project since then.
Before joining Oracle, Nitin worked at two early-stage startups. At Staila Technologies, an ETH spinoff, he led projects to design and implement a practical software transactional memory system and a high throughput storage engine optimized for SSDs.
Nitin has over 15 years of research and advanced development experience, with a focus on scalable and efficient databases and storage systems. He has filed over 10 patents and holds an engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology in India.
