Burnout syndrome – why should you take it serious

By Edgars Letinskis

Elevator Pitch

In this talk, I will share my experience with Burnout syndrome – symptoms, how to avoid or cope with it and will use Chopsticks to visually explain why should you take it serious.

Description

In this talk, I’m sharing my experience with Burnout syndrome: - how did I get there, - main symptoms, - how to avoid or cope with it and I’m using Chopsticks to help people connect and better understand why should they take it serious.

Main message of the talk is that after getting burn-out it is very hard (rather impossible) to get back the same strength as we had before and therefore it is better for us to start to care for our health before burn-out. If we will not take care of our health before burning out, we will have to do it anyway, but our starting point will be much lower.

I wish somebody would warn me about it before I got burn out.

Notes

I have been doing this talk already several times in different meetups for IT developers in all Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) and so far always have get very good feedback. Here is video of this talk at DevClub.lv (Riga, Latvia) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6hK-nld1lQ&t=16s
