A Better Impact: Using Impact Mapping to Explore Representation at Tech Conferences:

By Sean Killeen

Elevator Pitch

Impact mapping is a powerful technique to orient your team toward achieving outcomes instead of writing features. To explore the concept, Sean uses impact maps to move us toward something he is passionate about – more diverse representation at conferences, both for attendees and speakers.

Description

You haven't written a description for this talk yet. Having just a title is a great place to start, but you probably don't want to submit your talk to an event without any sort of description. All you need to do is click the edit button and fill it in. Think of the great sense of accomplishment you'll feel when you're finished.

Notes

I understand that this is a sensitive subject and that I, as a white, cis, man tend to be amongst the most privileged in this industry. My goal is to approach this subject with humility and empathy with a goal of improving our industry’s diversity, inclusion, and representation. I want audiences to hear someone in my position speak about why this is important, and make space for underrepresented folks to talk about their subject of expertise, rather than diversity.

In short, I guess what I’m saying is – you needn’t be worried that this talk would make you end up in the news or on blast on Twitter.
