Description

Visual and UX Designers are expected to have basic knowledge about HTML, CSS and Javascript. Isn’t it time to expect a basic User Experience and Design knowledge from Developers, Product Owners and Project Managers?

Because unless we have a shared understanding of UX goals, constraints and opportunities, we will continue to be disappointed by our own false expectations.

And unless we speak a common language, misunderstandings, waste and frustration are built right into our daily workflows.

And unless we work to together across roles and teams, we will not deliver the best UI to our user’s browsers.

This talk aims at closing your gap to “that thing with the UX”. We’ll take a bird’s eye view on what UX is all about and then nosedive deep into some methods and tools. We will see how you can enhance the UX of your product the next time you work on it, with an time investment of just several minutes.

You will see that UX is easy to get started with and that you can do it.

Let’s kill the myth of the lonely genius designer and build better things together!

PS: I will bring donuts! :doughnut:

Notes

I’m an embedded UX/UI designer at Jimdo’s dev teams for 3 years (actually, June 1st would mark 3 years exactly). While the company is moving from a flat-structured startup to a more common hierarchical approach, one thing stays the same: UX is about people, communication and catalyzing a shared understanding.
