Description
There is a mythological creature spoken about from time to time in developer circles. Some believe that it does exist and some deny its existence. Known as the “10x developer”, it is rumored to rescue doomed projects and do software development at incredible speeds, always leaving other mere mortal developers in awe.
Join me as I journey through folklore and fact, truth and tale to discover what gives this creature its power and bring some insight into what transformations need to take place in the mind of a developer to achieve the dream of one day becoming a “10x Developer”.
I have spent many years and many projects working in and with teams of developers to deliver software that delights the customer in all respects, from project timeline to features. In this talk I will be sharing the things that I have learned about what makes some developers have a bigger positive impact than others.
Notes
In this talk my aim is to debunk the myth that some developers are born to be great and have some special ability to produce more than others. My view is that a “10x developer” is a developer that makes the team perform better by writing tested, clean, maintainable and communicative code and approaches the system with more of a holistic approach where customer value and overall system simplicity is a focus.
Hopefully this talk will inspire developers to be a catalyst of improvement within their teams and grow other developers in the process.
