Wrecked Wide Web

By Rowdy Rabouw

Elevator Pitch

The web was invented in 1989 and has become an intrinsic part of our daily lives nowadays. You’d think we build something magnificent in those three decades. Unfortunately, we often did a lousy job, didn’t learn from our mistakes, or even got the basics right.

Description

Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web in 1989 to share information between scientists around the globe. Well, things have changed in the past 30+ years, haven’t they?

The Web has become an intrinsic part of our daily lives nowadays. We shop online, watch videos, order our food, have conversations, play games, navigate to our destination, listen to music, manage our finances and whatnot.

In this talk, Rowdy will look to the past, present and future of web development and how we can fix what we’ve wrecked.
