Bio

Ryan has been a computer geek since he was old enough to understand what they were. He taught himself BASIC at age 8, and he’s been developing software professionally for about 20 years now. He started off as a dev in the Air Force and joined Rackspace after separating 12 years ago. He has over 10 years’ experience on the JVM, primarily with Java and Groovy. For 7 years, he worked in Erlang, dealing with network automation in Rackspace data centers. Today, he’s chief troubleshooter (developer? designer? architect?) for everything related to Rackspace’s Monitoring-as-a-Service product. For fun, Ryan enjoys board games, fixing bugs, and learning about programming languages.
