Basic To Baller: Customizing Your PowerShell Prompt

By Thomas Rayner

Elevator Pitch

I’m one of those people who spends waaay too much time customizing my PowerShell prompt. It’s a heck of a rabbit hole. Let me show you the cool stuff I’ve done to mine that people ask about every time they see it. It’s not just nice to look at, but functional too.

Description

Every time I present and people see my PowerShell prompt, I get lots of questions about how I made it look that way, how it gets all the pieces of information it displays, and so on. This is a pretty light-hearted session and isn’t going to change anybody’s life, but it’s still going to be pretty cool for people to see the kinds of things you can do in the console. The only slides for this session are an intro and a “thanks for coming”. Otherwise, we’re writing code.

Notes

This is a fun session on a topic that people don’t tend to talk a ton about.
