Accento is an amazing combination of high-caliber conference and well-founded, hands-on trainings for experienced Java/web developers. Attendees are up for two days of inspiring talks, professional sessions, interesting discussions, and new ideas around Java, JavaScript, web development, and operations.

  • Conference day: 29th of September 2020
  • Training day: 30th of September 2020
  • Location: Südwerk in Karlsruhe, Germany

The conference topic is continuous improvement - here’s our motivation for that:

The perfect is the enemy of the good. Don’t go after perfection - instead, get a working version on the road and let people interact with it. Observe what they like and what they don’t, then improve. Then again, then again - a cycle of continuous improvement.

Whether it’s writing code, operating software, or organizing a conference: continuous improvement lies at the heart of getting it right. This is particularly true for DevOps, a topic that, next to Java and JavaScript development, will get the attention it deserves at Accento 2020. And it’s just as important for Accento itself, where we learn from the first gig to make this one even better.

CFP Description

Tracks

Accento 2020 will have three tracks with 15 slots, covering a wide variety of topics aimed at experienced and expert-level developers. The three tracks are Java, JavaScript/WebDev (for examples on what Java/JS content we like, see last year’s talks), and operations (new in 2020 - think continuous delivery, Docker, cloud, etc.).

Topic

Talks don’t have to be related to the conference topic (“continuous improvement”), but it’s nice if they are (unless it’s forced). If your talk mentions the topic and shines a light on it, even if just for a few minutes, that’s definitely a plus.

Experience

Talks can target all audience experience levels. There’s often a strong tendency toward beginner or intermediate, though, and we prefer an overall more challenging program, with about 5 advanced talks and at least half of the rest intermediate. So please don’t hold back - share what you know!

Length

Talks will be an hour long, so there’s enough time to dive deep.

Language

The conference defaults to English, but German submissions are ok as well.
