After a blowout conference in 2022 and some awesome feedback from our sponsors and attendees showing clear demand for more we are proud to announce that ChiBrrCon III will happen on February 2nd, 2023, so mark your calendars!!!

This year we want to highlight how we are better together using the NIST cyber security framework. So, like five mighty defenders who join together and become one unstoppable force, we want to see how you pull the pieces together to create a champion defender for your company.

CFP Description

ChiBrrCon is back on February 2, 2023.

This year we want to highlight how we are BETTER TOGETHER using the NIST cybersecurity framework (CSF). So like five mighty defenders who join together and become one unstoppable force, we want to see how you pull the pieces of the CSF together to create a champion defender for your company.

The Call for Proposals is your chance to be a more active part of the ChiBrrCon conference, and place your mark on the Chicago community.

All presentation sessions are 45 minutes long although interactive workshops and/or village sessions can be varied timing.

Sessions can be of any of the following types:

###Deep Dive Talks Format to cover more technical deep dives in presentation form. Deep Dive Talks are limited to a maximum of 2 presenters and last for ~45 minutes, to include Q&A.

Panels

Panel discussion to bring together a group of no more than 5 experts on a broadly accessible topic. Off-The-Record - Discussion format for topics that you would like to discuss “Off -the -record”. We will be enforcing no recording/photography for this track. For this style, your CFP should call out topic details and moderation intention.

Tracks

The tracks this year will follow the NIST cyber security framework: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover. Share what you’ve done and how you’ve connected with other parts of the frame work to have a solution that is better together.

Identify

If you don’t know it’s there, you cant do much about it. Help share your story about how you helped identify assets, or more and how you tied that into other parts of the framework.

Protect

It’s what we are all here to do, but protection alone is losing proposing. Show us how you’ve tied protection into other aspects of the framework to make it better together

Detect

The hunt is on to find what’s not supposed to be happening and with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, there are new capabilities for both the good guys and bad. How have you integrated your detection efforts to have a better program

Respond

Like it or not things will happen. Maybe its a breach, or maybe its just the next incarnation of Log4J. How you respond can make or break a security team in the eyes of the business.

Recover

Getting the business back to normal as quickly as possible and stronger than before is every teams desire when an event happens

Villages

We’re bringing everyone’s favorite part of DefCon to Chicago. If you have an idea for a village, lab, CTF session, or escape room (just to name a few) send them to us for this track.

Leadership

So you want to be a CISO. This track is about helping you think through the issues that being a CISO means and being prepare. Hint: It’s not all about security.

ChiBrrCon encourages seasoned and new speakers to apply. Because we are focused on developing people if you are a new/newish speaker and would like a mentor to help you prepare please let us know as part of your submission.

Travel We will gladly accept submissions from qualified presenters anywhere but we DO NOT provide any travel or accommodation assistance.
