Speakers

We welcome speakers from varying backgrounds. You do not have to be an experienced speaker or an experienced programmer to be considered for speaking at GopherCon Singapore. We aim to ensure that the conference is welcoming and relevant to both beginner and experienced programmers.

This is an in-person conference, and we ask for speakers to be present at our conference venue in Singapore. We may make a rare exception for extraordinary talk proposals from speakers with considerable expertise in their subject matter. If you have a strong preference to present virtually, please mention so in the Additional Information section.

You may submit proposals for any of these talks:

• Standard Talk (Time limit: 20 mins)
• Extended/Deep Dive Talk (Time limit: 35 mins)

We recommend that all submitters read Dave Cheney’s article on how to write a successful GopherCon proposal, and the more general version. The choice of topic is yours. Go is so ubiquitous that people are using it in back-end services, distributed systems, databases, mobile, embedded systems, etc. We would also love to hear about your best practices, cautionary tales, future visions and hard-won lessons.

The submission process is manually anonymised by the CFP coordinator for the first pass of selection, but we do not anonymise selections in subsequent passes. We take into account quality, relevance, novelty, and practical impact. Please note that a very limited number of Extended/Deep Dive Talks will be accepted, and we will likely allocate these slots to submitters who have considerable expertise in the subject matter (i.e. they should have either written blog posts, or given other talks about the subject matter).

All submitters will be able to purchase their ticket at Super Early Bird pricing (for a reasonable period) if their talk does not get accepted. We aim to notify all speakers of our decision by end-October 2024 (edit: pushed back because of the date change).
