o11yfest is a two-day virtual technology conference focused on empowering DevOps practitioners with solutions that improve observability over systems and processes. It will be held online using a virtual platform on May 17th & 18th 2021, hosted by community leaders and Growgistics LLC in collaboration with leading experts and companies in the continuous delivery and systems reliability ecosystem.

The conference is designed to promote awareness in OpenTelemetry and other relevant projects and techniques related to increasing visibility, transparency, and traceability of mission-critical data across software teams. o11yfest, previously held as Observe 20/20, is in its second year of operation as a grass-roots event whose aim is to encourage sharing of knowledge and development of the discipline of observability engineering.

CFP Description

We’re looking to record 25-minute technical presentations around observability culture and practices, especially field studies and collaborations, with 10 minutes of questions to be held live afterwards.

Sample topics include experiences using OpenTelemetry as a form of instrumentation, application of observability tooling to analyze the data, and otherwise how to improve observability in and across organizations practicing continuous delivery and DevOps. In particular, we are looking to highlight the business value of embracing observability across all kinds of end-user organizations. We’re also keen to hear about making observability batteries-included by default, so that more people can experience the joys of telemetry in their favorite frameworks and tools.

The typical audience includes SREs, developers, automation engineers, and cloud operations professionals. We encourage first-time speakers to submit, and the co-chairs will offer coaching to any selected speaker who would like assistance or feedback. Please ensure that you include in the notes field an outline of the topics you intend to cover in your submission.

This conference is anticipating between 500-1000 attendees. There will be a keynote plus 4 presenters each day over the two days, interspersed with booth swarm and other activities. Thus, we’re looking for 10 outstanding presentations to cover the spectrum from small to large implementers, and greenfield to brownfield.
