Cool Bio-hack, or from Zero to Iceman and how it helps in testing.

By Monika Golec

Elevator Pitch

Too Hot ⇾ Get Cool, Learn and Experience the ice-cold water.

Do you want to refresh & check how to put your hand (foot or full body) into the ice-cold water (properly)? You’ll learn how to do that, and will have a chance to try.

Theory + (Optional) Practice

Description

Exciting breakout session.

  • How a decent exposure to the ice-cold water (or air) improves you & your (testing) work.
  • Do you want to refresh & check how to put your hand (or foot or full body) into the ice-cold water with the best outcome?
  • You’ll learn how to do that. You’ll have a chance to try in a safe environment.

  • You’ll get the idea why that cool Bio-hack is growing in popularity - why it’s so cool.
  • We’ll aim for your hand, or foot …to put into the ice-cold water, for 1-2 min. (Full body in the ice-cold water? Maybe.)
  • Location: A session outside or near the pool area. We will use (cooking /drinks) ice.

Experience we (Monika and Serg.) have:

  • 2h hiking in Alps in a fridge cold December, dressed “almost” like for the +20 °C summer.
  • Swimming 50m in 4 °C (Swiss) lake, among 400 others participants.
  • Doing the ice-bath, in the city (all year long) and in a December 0°C cold river. We’ll share our experience and help you to gain one.

Notes

A bit of a theory + practice + theory and conversations.

Since 2018 - we are practicing the Wim Hof Method. And we’ll share how to get to the point from “cold” to “ice-cold”. From “hand” to “full body” experience. The name of the (WHM) method can be skipped upon the request (as it can be treated as advertising of a third party).

Suggested session time: 60-90 min.

We’ve attended “ice-training” sessions which could take 60 min and/or 2 days”. Experience in the cold water is usually measured in minutes - like 1-5 min per person. Theory, Warm up before and after - that takes a bit more time.

The number of participants can impact the session duration, or the way we will organize the bathing experience. 10 participants - 60 minutes. 20 - 90 min. 30 - 120 min. We’ll aim for 60 min.
