DevOps culture: How to identify & deal with reluctant team members

By Eric Charpentier

Elevator Pitch

The biggest danger to culture shifts is the reluctance of individuals to change. In my career, I have participated in several team changes with various levels of success. This talk is for leaders who have had difficulties with culture change and want to learn more about how to help their teams grow.

Description

Culture is the backbone of any changes. The current industry trends are shifts toward the various flavors of DevOps, Agile, LEAN, etc, which are all part of the trendy Digital Transformations. But the key to success is not the technology that is used, not the tools, not even the processes. It’s your people. Based on my 20 years of experience in the industry, this talk aims at sharing experiences and help you empower your teams to bring about the needed to operate a next generation business.

Notes

This talk can be done with or without slides. My goal is for people to have 2 take aways. 1. The leader gives the vision and the team executes but maybe not in the expected way and 2. One of us is not as smart as all of us.

For 20 years, I have worked for both large and small companies, all of them in the service industry. In all this time, I have learned that top-down decisions rarely work, are never implemented as designed and never last. However, I believe and am passionate about leadership and I have seen real, effective change work when we empower our people to bring about the desired changes which ultimately, helps us serve our customers better.

I hope to see you soon!
