SysConf is Sysdsgn’s flagship conference that brings together engineers, practitioners, and operators for technical talks. We are creating a space for the passionate, the obsessed and the curious to find community and learn.
SysConf is a conference that grew out of the SysDsgn’s Twitter Spaces, where we hosted technical conversations about tools, technology, and system architecture. Our team is passionate about promoting technical excellence and furthering technical knowledge in Africa and beyond. And one of the ways we have set out to achieve this vision is through conversations — by bringing together people who deeply understand or have applied a technical concept to share about it.
And just as we did in 2023, we’re back for the 2nd Edition of SysConf!
With SysConf, we aim to achieve the following non-exhaustive goals through our conferences:
- To further the technical knowledge of engineers both in theory and practice
- To expand the limits and excellence of technology in the ecosystem through examples
- To encourage technical discussions to the nth depth (where n = minimum depth of expertise) which is usually where innovation happens
CFP Description
We are seeking technical talks that delve deep into various technologies, providing our audience with valuable insights and detailed discussions. Whether you’re a first-time conference speaker or a seasoned presenter, we’d love to hear from you.
An ideal talk will walk us through how you’ve applied a technology to solve a problem—successfully or not—either on a personal project or within an organization. For the researchers, we also welcome explainer talks that go beyond surface-level introductions and uncover the deeper workings of a technology.
There are no constraints on the topics within technology that we seek proposals for. For illustrative purposes you can listen to some of our talks from SysConf ‘23. We heard about UI libraries, streaming, compilers, databases, incident response, distributed systems, APIs, AI, and cloud deployments. Proposals in these areas and beyond are welcome.
We want to know if you’ve improved or optimized a technology that exists for your use case. We want to know if you’ve had to make something new to solve a unique problem. We want to know how you have applied math to solve programming problems. We want to know how you debugged a stubborn issue. We want to know how you wrangled performance from your VMs. And much more.
We can’t wait to hear from you!
