 Summary

SysConf is a conference by the SysDsgn Team that organizes technical conversations on Twitter. Our team is passionate about promoting technical excellence and furthering technical knowledge in Africa and beyond. We have set out to achieve this vision through conversations - getting the people who deeply understand or have applied a technical concept (or both) to talk about it - and we want to extend that to a conference.

We take inspiration from conferences like QCon, which brings senior engineers from companies worldwide into a shared space to talk about technology. We hope to achieve the following non-exhaustive goals through our conferences:

  • To further the technical knowledge of engineers both in theory and practice
  • To expand the limits and excellence of technology in the ecosystem through examples
  • To encourage technical discussions to the nth depth (where n = minimum depth for expertise)

Where is it?

Online.

When?

September 16th. 10 am.

CFP Description

We are seeking technical talks that delve deep into various technologies, providing our audience with valuable insights and detailed discussions. An Ideal talk will walk us through how you’ve applied a certain technology to solve a problem (successfully or otherwise) individually or within your organization. We will also consider accepting explainer talks that go beyond the surface level for any technology.

There are no constraints on the topics; everything from web applications to the cloud, from operating systems to languages (and compilers), and from algorithms to databases, non-exhaustively. We want to know if you’ve improved or optimized a technology that exists for your use case. We want to know if you’ve had to make something new to solve a unique problem. We want to know how you have applied math and science to solve programming problems. We want to know how you debugged a stubborn issue by uncovering abstractions. We want to know how you keep things boring. Here are some examples of conversations we’ve hosted:

  • How Sine Waves Help Cloudflare Optimise Reboots
  • Kainene / Building AI-powered Software
  • Programming Languages, Interpreters & Compilers
  • SSH Internals

We expect the audience of this conference to come from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience in programming, and our goal is to deepen the technical knowledge of the attendees by exploring different technical topics.

We look forward to hearing from you!
