Standards of Conduct The Perl and Raku Foundation Standards of Conduct are in force for this event. In summary:

Purpose

The Perl Foundation believes our community should be truly open for everyone. As such, we are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion, or country of origin.

This code of conduct outlines our expectations for participant behavior. We invite all sponsors, volunteers, speakers, attendees, vendors, and other participants to help us realize a safe and positive conference experience for everyone.

Scope

We expect all event participants (sponsors, volunteers, speakers, attendees, vendors, and other guests) to abide by this code of conduct at all conference venues and conference-related social events, whether at the hotel, or at other locations.

Expected Behavior

• Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative.
• Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.
• Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants.
• Alert conference organizers if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.

Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behaviors include:

• Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning conduct by any attendees.
• Threats of violence
• Incitement of violence towards any individual, including encouraging a person to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm
• Sustained disruption of talks or other events
• Carrying and/or brandishing a dangerous weapon of any sort. Pocket knives and multi-tools with blades less than 2.5″ are acceptable, but any firearm, any club or cudgel, any non-firearm projectile weapon (bow/arrow, dart gun, spear, pellet gun, etc) or any sharp object longer than 2.5″ (sword, pole arm, bayonet, pike, dagger, poniard, hunting/camping knife) is not allowed in conference spaces, unless you are a certified peace officer in the jurisdiction of Greenville/Spartanburg, SC.

Harassment includes:

• Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity, and expression, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability (including in your presentation slides)
• Inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images (including in presentation slides)
• Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following; harassing photography or recording
• Deliberate misgendering or use of ‘dead’ or rejected names or nicknames
• Inappropriate physical contact
• Unwelcome sexual attention

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behavior by other attendees, organizers, venue staff, sponsors, or other patrons of The Perl and Raku Conference venues will not be tolerated.

Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.

If anyone engages in unacceptable behavior, the conference organizers and may take any action they deem appropriate, including expulsion from the conference without warning or refund. Incidents will be reported to the Perl and Raku Foundation SoC Response Team, and may result in other disciplinary action.

Incidents involving Raku community members will also be referred to The Raku Community Affairs Team per their Code of Conduct.

Reporting Incidents

If you are subject to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subject to unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify a member of the SoC Quick Response Team as soon as possible.

Members of the team for this conference will be appointed shortly before the conference.
