BeerCity Code is an annual conference for software developers held in Grands Rapids, MI, also known as Beer City, USA. Software creators of all types are welcome, even those who don’t care for beer.

The main conference is held Saturday, June 10, with optional day-long workshops the day before, Friday, June 9. You can attend the conference for just $40, or do the conference plus an all-day workshop on Friday for just $200. There’s even a ticket that includes a VIP micro-brewery tour with our speakers and organizers. How cool is that?!

The BeerCityCode conference grew out of the success of its predecessor, Grand Rapids DevDay, but was renamed in 2017 to embrace its much more broad appeal outside the Grand Rapids area.

CFP Description

What You Need to Know

Friday, June 9: WORKSHOPS

A pre-conference day offering 6-hour workshops. We will split the proceeds with speakers 50/50 after paying for the costs associated with the workshop day.

Saturday, June 10: MAIN CONFERENCE

The day-long conference is on Saturday and we will be selecting as many quality hour-long sessions as we can to fill the day.

Call for Speakers closes on March 15 at midnight EST, but we’d REALLY appreciate it if you would get your submissions in earlier. Breakout sessions are 60 minutes total, workshops are 6 hours.

What You Get

  • All speakers receive complimentary admission to the entire event (Friday and Saturday) and a thank-you gift
  • Speakers are invited on a free Friday night brewery tour on a first-come-first-served basis, while spots last.
  • Hotels will be covered for Friday night for workshop speakers. Due to budget constraints, other travel expenses will not be covered, but we’re happy to consider exceptions for those that ask.
  • Selected speakers will be notified by email no later than March 18

Submission Guidelines

We look for the best content for software developers above all else - namely, any topics we think will be of interest to our attendees, regardless of who submits them. Sessions on all aspects of software creation (design, development, management, process, soft skills, etc) or any technology stack are very welcome! Sessions that appear to be a sales pitch for a product or service will be given lower priority.

Blind Selection Process

Sessions are selected through a blind process that removes any identifying information from the submission so that only the best sessions make it in. We, do, however make an effort to have as diverse a set of speakers as possible, so please help us spread the word to everyone.
