WiDS Miami 2021 will take place virtually on April 23rd 2021.
WiDS Miami 2021 is a virtual data science conference highlighting the work of female data scientists and will feature a special focus on the future of data science and AI in a post-pandemic world that is evolving socially, politically, and economically. WiDS Miami is an independent event organized by the Group for Resilient and Inclusive Tech (G.R.I.T.), which also organizes R-Ladies Miami, and has hosted speakers such Hadley Wickham, Dr. Safiya Umoja Noble, and Max Kuhn, among others.
This half-day conference is an opportunity to hear about the latest applications of data science as well as gain insights into how data science will play a key role in shaping South Florida in the coming years. Speakers are exclusively female.
WiDS started as a conference at Stanford in November 2015. Now, WiDS includes a global conference, with approximately 150+ regional events worldwide; a datathon, encouraging participants to hone their skills using a social impact challenge; and a podcast, featuring leaders in the field talking about their work, their journeys, and lessons learned. This conference provides an opportunity to hear about the latest data science-related research in a number of domains, learn how leading-edge companies are leveraging data science for success, and connect with potential mentors, collaborators, and others in the field.
