I'm Attending!June 14, 2019June 14, 2019Typelevel Summit Lausanne 2019UTCWe’re the Typelevel family of projects, and in 2019 we’re going to organize a new Summit. This is the call for speakers. If you have any questions at all, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. This form is administrated by Lars Hupel (email@example.com) and the data you entered will be shared with the programme committee. We won’t publish any of information you’ve entered here without your consent first.
What is Typelevel anyway? It is a community of projects and individuals organized around:
* Pure, typeful, functional programming in Scala
* Independent free and open source software
* A desire to share ideas and code
* Accessible and idiomatic learning resources
* An inclusive, welcoming and safe environment
The eighth Typelevel Summit will be co-located with Scala Days at EPFL.
The Summits are open to all, not just current contributors to and users of the Typelevel projects, and we are especially keen to encourage participation from people who are new to them. Whilst many of the Typelevel projects use somewhat “advanced” Scala, they are a lot more approachable than many people think, and a major part of Typelevel’s mission is to make the ideas they embody much more widely accessible. If you’re interested in types and pure functional programming we’d love to see you here!
We offer travel assistance. Please check the description in the submission form for more details.Lausanne, CH

I'm Attending!June 21, 2019June 21, 2019ServerlessDays Milano 2019UTC# ServerlessDays Milano 2019
Serverless is a recent addition to the long list of technologies that promise to accelerate software delivery, reduce the cost of compute ownership and provide unicorns and rainbows for all. And like all industry buzzwords, it generates enthusiasm and skepticism in equal measure – how to move beyond the hype?
ServerlessDays started life as JeffConf, a tongue in cheek conference in the spirit of Paul Johnston’s blog post, “Serverless is just a name. We could have called it Jeff”, an attempt to move beyond the Serverless buzzword and focus on the practical use of function as a service platforms and the value they provide. It is a one day, community-focused, single track event centered on real-world Serverless based solutions. It’s about fostering a community and helping all of us learn from each other as we embrace a new way of building applications.
ServerlessDays Milano 2019 is an evolution of the previous JeffConf Milan in 2017 and the proud confirmation of ServerlessDays Milano in 2018, and we look forward to building on the success of the previous ServerlessDays events around the world and learning from where we could do better. Our focus is on building a community through sharing of experiences, accessible without a large commitment of time or money (tickets start from just €35).Milano, Italy
I'm Attending!

I'm Attending!June 26, 2019June 26, 2019CW International Conference 2019: Digitising IndustryUTCCALL FOR SPEAKERS
The CW International Conference (CWIC) is now in its eleventh year and acts as the annual gateway for firms wishing to collaborate with Cambridge's world-leading technology ecosystem.
CWIC 2019: Digitising Industry is looking for expert speakers interested in presenting new R&D relevant to each of its six tracks: agriculture, manufacturing, retail & consumer electronics, intelligent cities, utilities and automotive & mobility services.
Speakers will have the opportunity to present to around 400 technologists, entrepreneurs, investors and innovation leads from major vertical markets. Presentations are typically 10-15 minutes long and come with the potential to join a panel discussion. All speaking organisations receive extensive promotion across CW's channels and press opportunities are available. Organisations of any size are welcome to submit applications. The deadline for submission is 21 February, more details are on the application page. Any questions, contact email@example.com.
THE STORY BEHIND CWIC 2019: DIGITISING INDUSTRY
Has technological innovation or industry’s eternal drive for better margins been the greatest definer of 21st century economics?
The unstoppable rise of the internet giants to their current positions has been remarkable – and, at least before the turn of the last millennium, unpredictable. A common phenomenon in the technology community is that key innovations pre-empt their most profitable applications.
This “technology first” viewpoint underplays the extent to which vertical markets have always embraced technological change, and the impact that mature industries have on the economics of next generation communications. Many industries have quickly adopted the implications of the connected world and are now pulling it forwards at pace. And the mobile industry, which has relied hitherto on mass consumerism, is now sprinting to keep up with the diversity of demand arising from the complexity of each vertical market.
At the CW International Conference 2019 we are bringing together technologists and business leaders from six vertical markets to explore industry’s future requirements of the digital sector and identify opportunities for collaborative development.Cambridge, UK
