- March 7-8, 2020
- Nashville School of Law
- Nashville, TN
PyTennessee is a yearly regional Python conference held every February in Nashville, TN. The conference was started in 2014 by Jason Myers and Will Golden, and has been a staple of the conference calendar every year since. PyTennessee 2020 will be our 7th year, and like every year before it, promises to be our best yet! Much like in years past, PyTennessee 2020 expects to feature 2 keynote talks, 3 speaking tracks, 1 tutorial track, and an always-excellent hallway track. The conference will provide breakfast and lunch both days (and will also provide meal alternatives to suit as many dietary restrictions as possible), will host a Game Night/After Party on Saturday, and will provide programming education through our Young Coders program.
PyTennessee is a nonprofit event facilitated by TechFed Nashville, a Tennessee nonprofit organization whose mission is to support and grow the grassroots tech talent in Middle Tennessee through educational events and groups. TechFed provides financial stewardship, risk management and volunteer leadership development for Nashville-area technology events.
PyTennessee endeavors to be a diverse conference dedicated to providing an enjoyable experience to everyone. Help us do this by following our code of conduct.
##About the Talks
PyTennessee is a developer-focused Python conference with talk topics running the gamut between beginner and advanced, and from web development to data science and machine learning. The majority of our talks are Python-focused, but in addition to the Python-related topics, we also look for and encourage Python-adjacent and “professional skills” talks to provide a more complete experience. Developers are more than the single language they write in, and PyTennessee attempts to reflect that in our talk selection.
##About Young Coders
The Young Coders program is one of the aspects of PyTennessee that we’re the most proud of. To learn more about it, please take a look at the [Young Coders info page](https://2020.pytennessee.org/young-coders).

<blockquote>With all of the shiny tools, titles and buzz words, it is easy to forget that automation and the principles around a DevOps Agile transformation is pretty basic and hasn’t changed over-um-the last 40 years. For year five of DevOps Days surveyed the landscape and found that, even though there are plenty of shiny keys out there, we would like to revisit the Basic. So what are the basics of a CI/CD pipeline, monitoring, database, testing, TDD, user story writing, prioritization? What are the basics of getting things from concept to customer in todays world?</blockquote>

I'm Attending!August 05, 2020August 06, 2020CAST 2020UTCThee Conference of the Association for Software Testing (CAST) 2020 is headed to Austin, TX, USA. The conference will be held August 3-6, 2020, at the Hilton Austin.
<i>What makes CAST unique?</i>
- For testers, by testers
- We strive to advance and improve the science of software testing
- We share, discuss, and question
- Network with peers, and experts
- Reasonably priced, high ROI
<i>Who should attend CAST?</i>
- Software Testers, Practitioners, and Managers
- Scholars and Researchers
The core mission of The Association for Software Testing (AST) and CAST is to help build an active community of software testing scholars, practitioners, and learners who can in turn positively influence and advance the practice of software testing.
CAST is more than a conference, it’s a unique opportunity to learn and discuss not found anywhere else. Each scheduled session is split into two parts. Half of the session is a presentation by a speaker, however the balance of the time is a facilitated “open season”. This open season allows attendees to question, discuss, and test the presentation.
What makes CAST truly unique is what takes place in the hallways, at receptions, during meals, and at Lightning talks. For many the true value of CAST is the ability to discuss topics you are interested in with peers, experts, and academics that are leading change in the industry. At CAST you are among friends…let’s confer!
<i>Mission and Style of CAST</i>
The conference is designed not only to allow but also to encourage a high-level of interaction among presenters and participants. Flexibility is built into the schedule to facilitate productive brainstorming and impromptu debates. The conference organizers are observant and responsive: when this interaction builds the interest and energy for a particular topic, the flow of events and allocation of time to topics will be fine-tuned. Trained, seasoned moderators will help ensure that discussion sessions are productive.
<i>CAST is free from thinly veiled sales pitches and offers up fresh content:</i>
CAST sessions are about experience, practice, and ideas — not just products. All sessions are related to the conference theme to enable in-depth exploration of each topic. Most of the presentations and tutorials at CAST are first-run content. We’ve assembled a cast of practitioners and thought-leaders with interesting stories and provoking ideas.
<i>CAST is accompanied with unique tutorials:</i>
AST lines up unique interactive full-day tutorials — each led by recognized thought leaders in their areas of expertise.
Our hope is that CAST helps you advance the understanding and practice of testing — at your organization and around the globe. You’ll have opportunities to share your ideas and learn from thought-leaders, trainers, authors, and peers. CAST is a participatory conference where everyone is encouraged to participate and enjoy.
<i>CAST puts CONFER back into Conference:</i>
What makes CAST unique is that we focus on the confer part of the word conference over anything else. Each scheduled session consists of a presentation followed by facilitated discussion about that presentation. Unless instructed otherwise, you may only ask clarifying questions while a speaker is presenting. Once a speaker is done, it becomes Open Season – at which point the floor is opened for discussion.Austin, TX
