I'm Attending!May 01, 2020May 01, 2020BSides Knoxville 2020UTCMayday! Mayday! You are submitting to the SIXTH annual BSides Knoxville!
For the local neighborly Scruffians, you know what you’re getting into. It’s a one day conference that runs from 9 AM to 6 PM EDT. We host a speaker dinner at 6:30 PM, immediately following the conference.
<p>We offer complimentary speaker training, slide reviews and practice sessions to those that need or want it.</p>
<p>The CFP will end on March 1, 2020. Notifications will be sent out no later than March 15, 2020. Some *may* be sent out sooner, so submit as early as possible.</p>
For those of you that “ain’t from ‘round here”, don’t worry. Knoxville is a friendly, if scruffy, city and BSides Knoxville has a relaxed, come-as-you-are atmosphere.
Here are a few quick facts about BSides Knoxville that set us apart from other security conferences:
* We feed all attendees “breakfast” (usually donuts) and lunch.
* Water, soda and coffee are available for free all day.
* Each attendee gets two tickets for alcoholic drinks. You’re on your own after that. Roughly half of the attendees don’t drink, so we’re working on a system where they can get some cool swag instead. We usually do nice coffee mugs and cool handmade posters.
* Each speaker gets a personalized walkout song! We feel this is a great way to get the presenter and crowd pumped up. After all, two of our tracks are designed to be music and entertainment venues.
* Quiet, private speaker rooms are provided with extra snacks, drinks, and caffeine.
Tickets sell out every year (except for that one year we scheduled on the same day as CodeStock … oops). We typically have had 2.5 tracks (one just runs the morning) and each talk is 30-50 minutes in length, but that may change this year as we are possibly moving to a new (TBD) venue.
<p>Several hotels are a 5-20 minute walk away. Downtown is a 15 minute Uber/Lyft ride from the airport (TYS)</p>
If you’re still not convinced or have additional questions, hit us up on Twitter or via email.Knoxville, TN
I'm Attending!May 01, 2020May 01, 2020Byteconf React 2020UTCByteconf React is a 100% free single day conference with the best React speakers and teachers in the world. Conferences are great, but flights, hotels, and tickets are expensive, so not everyone can go. Byteconf is streamed on YouTube, for free, so anyone and everyone can attend. We’re building a community of developers around the world - see you there?
We're looking for great speakers of all experience levels to speak at Byteconf React. What's unique about Byteconf is the location: it's completely streamed online. This means that you don't need to travel, be able to afford flights, or a hotel to speak at the conference -- we want to reach people _where they are_, regardless of socioeconomic situation.
So, about you as a speaker. Our audience is incredibly enthusiastic, and we want to work with speakers who are really excited to teach people. You don't need to have experience as a speaker, and if you don't have the right gear to record a talk, we'll send them to you! We want to support great speakers, but we also want to help people grow _into_ great speakers. If you have a topic that you think is interesting, or if you want to teach people about the way that _you_ look at code, consider submitting a talk idea (or multiple)!
Byteconf talks are 20 minutes. We ask that speakers prerecord their talks, and deliver both the talk and an introductory video (so we can put a face to the voice/code) and have them delivered to us about one or two weeks before the conference.
This year, we're really excited to announce our first ever lightning talks portion of the conference! This is a great opportunity to show off your React projects, teach a simple React concept, or whatever else you think would be interesting, in just five minutes. We're super excited about this aspect of the conference, and we encourage you to submit a talk if you want to get a chance to share what you know about React!
Our speaker alumni have one thing they always mention as a particularly cool part about Byteconf: the live chat. We encourage our speakers to hop into the Twitch chat and hang out with our audience as their talk airs. This is a great chance to answer questions, build connections, and grow your audience. It's a unique dynamic that we haven't seen at any other conference!
Questions before you submit? Shoot me an email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks, and hope to see your submission soon!

I'm Attending!May 07, 2020May 07, 2020Current and Future Trends in Research: Journey into the UnknownUTCThere are certainly promising developments and innovations in the developing research works across different disciplines. Ongoing research brings contributions and insights achieved by various researchers in the public and private organisations, such as universities, companies, and laboratories. Significant advancements are achieved in both academic and professional environments, as well as a mutual benefit between academics and professionals gets created through affiliation and collaboration programs among them. At every discovery or progress achieved by one or another, there are new findings that unlock a door on a new journey. In every discipline, what is newly known often indicates imprecise ideas about the unknown volumes of knowledge we have yet to discover, but incrementally. Each increment is infinitesimally small comparing to the unknown knowledge, and still requires a research journey into the unknown.
A first step into the journey to the unknown starts by finding and asking questions we have no answers for. In this direction, there have been interesting open projects that establish a database for a reverse encyclopaedia: collecting things we know we don’t know on philosophy, science, mathematics, and all the universe (i.e. Reversopedia).
As it has always been a supportive environment to promote its research output by encouraging and organising research events, University of Bedfordshire is delighted to host and welcome all research students to file their research papers on **Journey into the Unknown**.
A wide range of research fields where researchers may be analysing data or specimen, observing events or phenomena, or performing interventional studies, presents tremendous opportunities for examination, discussion and constructive feedback. Research schools and departments are all invited: science of technology, engineering & mathematics; art & media- related research; social sciences; business & management; and all health-related and laboratory-based research. Researchers from other universities are welcome to present their research thesis or papers to a welcoming and friendly audience, which may help shed some light on further improvement areas.Luton Campus Centre, Postgraduate building, United Kingdom
