# About BSides Knoxville
For the local neighborly Scruffians, you know what you’re getting into. It’s a one-day conference that runs from 9 AM to 6 PM EDT. The speaker dinner will occur at 6:30 PM, on Thursday, May 23rd, the day _before_ the conference.
For those of you that “ain’t from ‘round here”, don’t worry. Knoxville is a friendly, if scruffy, city and BSides Knoxville has a relaxed, come-as-you-are atmosphere.
Here are a few quick facts about BSides Knoxville that set us apart from other security conferences:
* Water, soda, and coffee are available for free all day.
* Each attendee gets two tickets for alcoholic drinks. You’re on your own after that. Less than half of the attendees choose to drink, so don't worry if you're not into alcohol - you are the majority! There are other perks of attending - cool handmade posters and, for our tenth year, there's a limited edition [Arduboy](https://www.arduboy.com/) that attendees can optionally purchase (until they run out).
* Each speaker gets to choose a personalized, walkout song! We feel this is a great way to get the presenter and crowd pumped up.
* Quiet, private speaker rooms are provided with extra snacks, drinks, and caffeine.
Tickets sell out every year (except for that one year we scheduled on the same day as CodeStock … oops). Last year's event had over 400 attendees. We're expecting 500 or more this year.
> **The event will be held at [Regas Square](https://www.regassquare.com/), 333 W Depot Ave, Knoxville, TN 37917, and [The Mill and Mine](https://themillandmine.com/), 227 W Depot Ave, Knoxville, TN 37917**
If you’re still not convinced or have additional questions, hit us up on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/BSidesKnoxville) or via [email](mailto:info@bsidesknoxville.com).

About x33fcon
-------------
Yet another security con? **Nope.**
The idea behind **[x33fcon](https://www.x33fcon.com)** (pronounced /ˈziːf-kɒn/) is to focus on a very specific need of the security industry: **collaboration between blue and red teams** (sometimes referred to as purple teaming). We know from our professional experience how hard it can be to build a solid bridge between those who assess security and those who guard the castle. Many misconceptions and misunderstandings arise between these two groups.
We want to change that. Rather than continue to think about security from either an offensive or defensive perspective, our goal is to encourage security professionals to consider both perspectives while working more closely together. Both blue and red teams provide unique capabilities to an organization, but the collaboration between the two yields the best results.
**[x33fcon](https://www.x33fcon.com)** is an event that brings both groups together, and everyone from both sides of the fence are invited to gather, share ideas and discuss thoughts on security.
Who Should Attend
-----------------
Anyone interested!
Topics planned for this conference are important for any IT security personnel, especially **red teamers, pentesters, incident responders, analysts, and researchers**. The conference will include high-level talks on team collaboration, case studies, and deep-dives into attack and defense techniques.
It's a great opportunity to meet other blue and red team members, learn from their experiences and understand how attackers and defenders think and behave.
Are you responsible for security? **Don't miss out!** Come along and help define what's possible.
About Us
--------
We are a group of security enthusiasts with many years of experience in both the offensive and defensive arena. We have worked for small companies and large multi-national corporations around the world. Our experience spans all major sectors of business including **Finance, Healthcare, Energy and Aviation**.
We have also contributed to, and presented at, many security events: **Security BSides Warsaw, NoVA Hackers, Tech.3camp Gdansk, HackInParis, Geek Girls Carrots**, and lectures at **Gdansk University of Technology**.
Security professionals in offensive and defensive roles should collaborate with each other - more often and more effectively. That's the main thrust behind the creation of **[x33fcon](https://www.x33fcon.com)**; to provide a forum to boost this collaboration.

**Business stakeholders** who are trying to attract talent and find new solutions to complex problems. We typically attract product managers, program directors, technical recruiters, and CTOs.
